From bush to bottle: launching soon October 17 2014 3 Comments
It's a little surreal, we're about to launch our first baby. In 2006, four of us ventured down to the land of Evita to see tango, football, gauchos, and experience those legendary Argentine steaks. Ed and Catherine were engaged at the time and Bob and I were only on our sixth date! While we were there, we visited the wine region around Mendoza, fell in love with the incredible food and wine, and met the Vines of Mendoza team, who were in the very early days of their wine and business venture in the Valle du Uco. We became one of the earliest Private Vineyard Estate Owners, and now eight years and four children between us later, our first wine is about to be launched.
On our first visit, the road from Mendoza out to the vineyard was rough and the land itself was nothing more than scrub. We rode around on horseback and tried to imagine vines growing there. There was something magical about the place, enjoying an asado (Argentine BBQ) in the Argentinean bush, with the majestic Andes as our backdrop and the sounds of the crystal clear water flowing nearby. We just knew it would produce something special. Though it's still hard to believe how things have transformed; today the land is established vines as far as the eye can see, with a world class resort and wine making facilities a stone's throw from our own vineyard.
It's taken us a while to get to this point. Life sometimes gets in the way. And we wanted to have the best quality wine. So here we are, a labour of love and a product of which we are extremely proud and excited to launch very soon.
