2011 Aluvión Malbec Reserva "Cooper's Pick"
$90.00
Silver Medal - San Francisco International Wine Competition 2016
PRODUCTION
Super premium limited release.
The summer of 2011 was very dry with lower than usual maximum temperatures, which allowed for a longer period of ripening. This resulted in grapes with excellent acidity levels and intense fruit expression. Following maceration and fermentation, we matured the wine in a combination of new and second use French oak barrels (Boutes and Saury) for 16 months. We blended 95% Malbec together with 5% Cabernet Franc to round out the intensity and character of the wine.
This wine has been further bottle aged and provides a deliciously smooth finish with wonderful complexity.
TASTING NOTES
Provides a captivating bouquet of freshly crushed black cherries and plums, which elegantly evolve into a complex combination of plums, wildflowers, and notes of graphite. In the mouth, the wine delivers a profound texture and ample polished tannins, building to a fruit-packed structure laced with violet flowers, tobacco and coffee beans.
As with most Malbec wines, we recommend decanting for up to 30 minutes and serving at a temperature of 16-18 degrees Celsius.
